Rania's To Go
When I started my catering business back in 1979, I never dreamt that I would end up taking almost an entire city block of space in the Mt. Lebanon
business district. Having a type “A” personality generally means you just don’t know when to stop or quit and that defines
me to a “T”. When I was a little girl, I used to shop with my mother at Joseph Horne’s on Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon.
Boy’s and Girl’s clothing and shoes were located on the basement level of the store…. Just about where my office is located
today. What a strange turn of events to end up in the Huskies and Chubbett department…. One that I guess I never left! Well, as my little
business grew, so was my need for space and 100 Central Square became my home away from home.
That move occurred in 1984 and there isn’t a day that doesn’t go by when we get the questions, “Did you just open?” or “How many years have you been here?” Folks who know us as a catering company are shocked and happy to learn that they can order food to go for their parties, when a fully catered event isn’t what they are looking for. Rania’s To Go is a multifaceted operation. We prepare food for take out for as few as two people or as many as two hundred and we have a great café on site for those who want to eat in and enjoy a quick and delicious meal, without having to summon a waiter. We are open Monday through Friday from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M., and Saturdays from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. Our menu changes daily, as many of our customers are “regulars” and we don’t want them to get bored with the same menu day in and day out. We don’t have a menu, as I want my chefs to be creative so that our customers will find items that are ever changing and always fresh. The most important thing to note is that we try to source local ingredients and aspire to prepare as many organic menu items, as possible, on a daily basis. Whether it’s the Greek Village Salad recipe that remains in our case since the day we opened our doors or the homemade pasta with wild mushrooms and pecorino or the grilled salmon with an heirloom tomato relish, the goal is stay fresh ~ stay healthy ~ and keep our customers, both new and old, keep walking through our front door.
When you come down for the first time, you’ll see what a jewel we have in the heart of Mt. Lebanon. We hope to see you soon!
