In every city there’s a neighborhood restaurant that is just a bit more special and always popular with the locals. I’m a lucky girl because that restaurant just happens to be located across the street from my store.  I walk by it every night and pop in the kitchen door to say hello to my friend, Jessica, chef extraordinaire.  No matter what ungodly hour I leave my office, Jessica is still hard at work.  Then, I round the corner to make my way to my car, and look in the windows of the restaurant, only to see happy patrons filling all of the tables.  How rare it is to see this in Pittsburgh on nights other than just Friday and Saturdays!  What’s even luckier for me is that Jessica always accepts our invitation to teach at our cooking school.  Just as she sells out the tables at Bistro 19, she also sells out her classes. It’s no wonder when the menu consists of Cajun Shrimp as her appetizer.  Eggplant, Feta and Garbanzo salad is the perfect prelude to Cornish Hens roasted under a brick and finished with Gremolata.  Strawberry Shortcakes with Basil Biscuits and Balsamic Vinegar along with Sangria will round out the menu as well as our waistlines tonight!
